Canterbury UMC

During my time at Canterbury I served as the Digital Content Manager. My responsibilities included building out community content and generating engagement, from Mailchimp newsletters, to Metaverse management and more. All content was created and marketed using strategic platforms to increase engagement and brand direction led by both Senior leaders and our Director of Communications.

Brand Direction

The Canterbury brand was supervised under the direction of all Senior Pastors including the National Branch of United Methodist Church leaders to coincide with all UMC Communities.

My role was to develop and execute ideas pertaining to our goals as an organization including visual and written communication.

This included website management, live streaming, campaign design, animated, video and photography content all from a remote environment.

Social Media

All social media accounts were managed by me. This included building online presences in each respective forum of communication.

Creating a content calendar, scheduling posts, coordinating with different departments on upcoming events were all parts of my responsibility.

During the year we focused on a core group of events that would lead certain seasons of the year Lent, Holy Week, and advent were a few.

Website Management

The Canterbury website was a hub spot for all events and updates pertaining to the community planned by Canterbury leadership.

Maintenance and updates on the website were made regularly through Squarespace to inform communities on existing events as well as new changes. I was also in charge of organizing, photographing and updating staff headshots.

Finding ways to create new landing pages for the website helped drive more traffic and organically create good SEO.

Videography

Canterbury regularly executed community videos to inform on topics later discussed in the sermon.

I was in charge of story boarding, organizing community and leaders, and filming and editing content on each respective topic.

Managing this content and marketing it through our social media portals was key in generating good online engagement as well as turnover member rates.

Animated Content

During services before the introduction of a sermon animated videos called bumpers would be shown on the theme for that lesson plan. These could be everything from a live video to guided content, which transitioned smoothly into the lesson.

A lot of this work was built in After Effects and assembled in Adobe Premier Pro for both in service and online audiences.

These were also used and repurposed on our social media platforms to create engagement between the physical service and educational materials online.
